Remember three words that all start with the letter H. First one is HELP, second one is HOPE and the third one is HEAL. HELP, HOPE, HEAL.
1. Let us take HELP first. Stephen Ministers are equipped and trained lay people that provide 1 on 1 confidential spiritual and emotional care to people in our community and church. Galatians 6:2 describes HELP: “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” HELP from Stephen Minister!
2. Let’s take HOPE second. Care Receivers are assigned to Stephen Ministers who give spiritual and emotional care during tough times. Isaiah 40:31 describes this HOPE: “But those who wait on God get fresh starts. They spread their wings and soar like eagles. They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t get behind.” HOPE comes to CARE RECEIVER!
3. Let’s take HEAL third. The Stephen Ministry LOGO that you will see posted in our church soon has two people; one on each side of a cross; one has a broken heart and one has a “made whole by God” heart. Paul’s letter from jail to the church in Philippians is the “happiest letter” Paul wrote: In chapter 4: verse 14, he tells us: “Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the ONE God who makes me who I am.”
HELP from Stephen Minister! HOPE to the care receiver! GOD HEALs the care receiver!
